Dennis Branch Renovation Project Breaks Ground in Newton

Newton, NJ - The Sussex County Library System (SCLS) marked the beginning of a major renovation project at its Dennis Branch with a groundbreaking on September 14, 2026. County and library officials gathered at the branch, located at 101 Main Street in Newton, to celebrate the start of the project and look ahead to the update of this longtime community library.

“We are excited to see this project begin and to bring long-awaited updates to the Dennis Branch,” said Library Director Will Porter. “This has truly been a collaborative effort, from the Newton Library Association to County and State officials, and we thank everyone who has contributed to making this project possible. We especially want to thank the Newton library community for its support. We look forward to welcoming the community back to an updated Dennis Branch next year.”

The renovation project will bring an updated and expanded library space, along with improved accessibility and services, to the Newton community. During the closure, SCLS continues to provide library services to the community through its other branches and the Dot Mobile Library, including a regular stop at 15 Trinity Street in Newton. Visit the SCLS website for up-to-date information on the project and alternate service locations.
